SUNDAY September 1st Eleventh Sunday after Trinity
A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Let us share together in the life of God.
THE COLLECT FOR ELEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
O God, you declare your almighty power most chiefly in showing mercy and pity: mercifully grant to us such a measure of your grace, that we, running the way of your commandments, may receive your gracious promises, and be made partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Lord of all mercy,
we your faithful people have celebrated that one true sacrifice which takes away our sins and brings pardon and peace: by our communion
keep us firm on the foundation of the gospel and preserve us from all sin;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
THE READINGS – Proper 17 (Lectionary Page 1027/28)
First Reading Proverbs 25: 6-7
Humility is what God wants of us.
Second Reading Hebrews 13. 1 – 8, 15-16
Mutuality, doing good and sharing are part of what it is to reflect God’s hospitality in the world.
Gospel St. Luke 14. 1, 7 – 14
God calls us to the blessing of a humility and hospitality unrecognised by the world.
