SUNDAY August 4th Seventh Sunday after Trinity
A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.
We are those who have been raised with Christ into eternal life. So let us seek “the things that are above, where Christ is,” as we gather to worship him.
THE COLLECT FOR THE SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
Lord of all power and might,
the author and giver of all good things:
graft in our hearts the love of your name,
increase in us true religion,
nourish us with all goodness,
and of your great mercy keep us in the same;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
Lord God, whose Son is the true vine and the source of life,
ever giving himself that the world may live:
may we so receive within ourselves
the power of his death and passion
that, in his saving cup,
we may share his glory and be made perfect in his love;
for he is alive and reigns, now and for ever.
THE READINGS Proper 13 (Lectionary Page 1003/1005)

Second Reading Colossians 3:1-11
Paul challenges Colossian believers to put aside old ways and focus on cultivating a holiness appropriate to their new life in Christ.
Gospel St. Luke 12:13-21
Jesus warns against hoarding earthly riches at the expense of investing in the enduring treasure of a generous, God-centred lifestyle.
PADSTOW: MEMORIAL TO ROGER PENNA
Roger gave outstanding service to St Petroc’s for 53 years as organist and choir master. The PCC, in consultation with Roger’s family, has agreed that it would be good to have a practical memorial to his faithful contribution to our worship so it has been agreed to get a good quality music stand and put a plaque on it to his memory. This will cost about £175 and we thank those who have given donations to cover this.
Saturday 10 August: St. Petroc and Community Garden Party from12noon-5 pm at Prideaux Place. Donations are needed for the following stalls: Alan Veck –Tombola prizes, Sue Norfolk good quality paperback books (please no hardbacks); Patrick Atkinson – bottles, cans of drink unopened and in date; Trevor Whitehouse -plants and produce; Molly Bishop-soft toys. Help is needed on stalls, and we need volunteers to help man the gates and transport chairs, tables and BBQ to Prideaux Place the evening before. We also need more Gazebos if anyone can lend one. Please contact Tim Bishop or Sue Norfolk if you can help with any of these items.
