                             SUNDAY MARCH 3RD : The Sunday Next Before Lent

A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.  Please take our love and prayers to your home parish.

As Jesus prayed, the disciples saw his face shine with the glory of the Lord.  In our worship today, may we see the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Almighty Father,
whose Son was revealed in majesty
before he suffered death upon the cross:
give us grace to perceive his glory,
that we may be strengthened to suffer with him
and be changed into his likeness, from glory to glory;
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

O holy God,
we behold your glory in the face of Jesus Christ:
grant that we who are partakers at his table
may reflect his life in word and deed,
that all the world may know his power to change and save;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

TODAY’S READINGS (Page 807/809)

First Reading                         Exodus 34:29-35

Interceding with God for his rebellious people and receiving the commandments, Moses’ face radiated God’s glory. This frightened the Israelites so he wore a veil.

Second Reading                                 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:2

The new covenant in Christ allows us unveiled access to God, whose Spirit enables us increasingly to reflect his glory as we turn to him in confidence.

Gospel                                                 St. Luke 9:28-36

Like Moses, Jesus radiates the glory of God, but he is the Son, outshining both

Moses and Elijah, as the new covenant eclipses the Law and the Prophets.

Community Garden Party A Planning meeting will take place on Saturday March 16th at 10.30 a.m. in the Church Rooms, to start the preparations for the 9th Annual St Petroc’s and Community Garden Party to be held on Saturday August 10th at Prideaux Place, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Prideaux-Brune.  If you would like to help, have ideas for fund raising stalls or belong to a local organisation or charity then please come along.  Last year’s event was a great success for local organisations and charities.  Let’s make it bigger and better.  For more information; contact Tim Bishop or Sue Norfolk.

Jars will be available to collect from both churches at the beginning of Lent.

The rebuild for the Parish of St. Issey with St. Petroc Minor will continue until Sunday, March 10th.

Every 6 years the Electoral Rolls of our Parishes are rebuilt from scratch.  If you would like to be included on the Electoral Roll of your Parish please contact your Electoral Roll Officer:
