 19TH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY (Proper 22)

SUNDAY OCTOBER 7TH 2018

A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.  Please take our love and prayers to your home parish.

INTRODUCTION

We give thanks for our individuality but also thank God for our families and friends and the joys of love and marriage.

COLLECT FOR THE 19th SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY

O God, forasmuch as without you we are not able to please you;
mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit
may in all things direct and rule our hearts;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

READINGS FOR TODAY (Page 688/9)

First Reading                         Genesis 2: 18 – 24

God designs human beings to be social creatures, not isolated individuals. They are made to live in harmony with each other, with the rest of the created world, and with God.

Second Reading                   Hebrews 1: 1 – 4; 2: 5 – 12

Jesus is the perfect reflection of God, showing us what we human beings were designed for. By sharing our lives and our suffering, Jesus opens up the way for us to share in his glory.

Gospel                                   St. Mark 10: 2 – 16

Jesus’ teaching on divorce and on the value of children puts them in the context of God’s purposes in creating human beings.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER

Holy and blessed God,  you have fed us with the body and blood of your Son
and filled us with your Holy Spirit:
may we honour you, not only with our lips but in lives

dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

THANK YOU FROM ST. PETROC’S SOCIETY FOR THE HOMELESS

Dear All at Padstow St Saviour’s & St Petroc’s,

I am writing to thank you for your very kind Harvest Festive donations that  were gratefully received at our resource centre in Truro.

We are grateful for all the support we receive throughout the year and can assure you that your donation will be put to good use.  The work of St. Petroc’s is dependent on the support we receive from individuals, churches and schools throughout Cornwall and we make every effort to ensure are services are available to those who need it most.

Thank you once again for your support, for without the help of people such as yourselves our work here could not continue.

Yours sincerely,
