“Weekly News” for
THE UNITED BENEFICE OF PADSTOW
ST. MERRYN and ST. ISSEY with ST. PETROC MINOR
Sunday April 22nd – FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
A WARM WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS TODAY
Introduction and call to worship
Jesus is the Good Shepherd who cares for his people. He is our protector and our guide today. The risen Christ is with us – to guide us in our worship and to lift us to safety when we fall.
Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life:
Raise us, who trust in him,
from the death of sin to the life of righteousness,
that we may seek those things which are above,
where he reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
THE READINGS FOR TODAY (Page 544/545)
First Reading Acts 4:5-12
Peter, who had denied Jesus at the time of his trial, has been restored. Now he has a new found faith and courage to proclaim Jesus as Messiah.
Second reading 1 John 3:16-24
As the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep, so followers of Christ are told to care for the lost, and to love one another in word and deed.
Gospel St. John 10:11-18
The relationship that Jesus has with us is like that of a good shepherd with his sheep. He is with us in danger. He cares for the lost. His will is that we should be one. He lays down his life for us.
Merciful Father, you gave your Son Jesus Christ to be the good shepherd,
and in his love for us to lay down his life and rise again:
Keep us always under his protection, and give us grace to follow in his steps; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

WOW what a marvellous building and what an asset it will be for the community of Padstow. Thank you for the beautiful plaque – I was very touched. I do hope everyone is rightly very proud of what has been achieved. THANKS A MILLION for a very very happy day for both Gill and myself. You’ll never know how lovely it was to be back in my “home” community of Padstow. You are all special people.
