“Weekly News” for
THE UNITED BENEFICE OF PADSTOW,
ST. MERRYN and ST. ISSEY with ST. PETROC MINOR
July 30th 2017– TRINITY 7 (Proper 12)
A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.
Introduction to worship
God turns everything to our good for he has called us to become images of his Son. We come together today to celebrate the love of God, all of his abundant gifts and his presence among us.
THE COLLECT FOR THE SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things:
Graft in our hearts the love of your name,
increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness,
and of your great mercy keep us in the same;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
THE READINGS (Lectionary Page 268/69)
First Reading 1 Kings 3:5-12
Solomon prays to God for wisdom, that he may better serve others. Later, Jewish tradition perceived wisdom as a person of God.
Second Reading Romans 8:26-39
God has chosen us from the beginning to share his glory forever and patiently waits for us to turn to him.
Gospel St. Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52
God’s kingdom, and all its treasures, is waiting to be found by those who can recognise its worth.
POST COMMUNION PRAYER
Lord God, whose Son is the true vine and the source of life,
ever giving himself that the world may live:
May we so receive within ourselves the power of his death and passion
that, in his saving cup, we may share his glory and be made perfect in his love; for he is alive and reigns, now and for ever. Amen
