 “Weekly News” for

            July 16th 2017– TRINITY 5 (Proper 10)

                                       A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.

 Introduction to worship

Christ is the sower, the seed, God’s word and our hearts the soil, in which it bears fruit.

Almighty and everlasting God,

by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified:

Hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people,

that in their vocation and ministry

they may serve you in holiness and truth to the glory of your name;

through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

READINGS (Lectionary Page 256/8) – Proper 10

First Reading                                      Isaiah 55:10-13

God promises that through his word he will accomplish all that he purposes for his creation which, in turn, will celebrate its transformation with joy.

Second Reading:                              Romans 8:1-11

Paul tells us how God’s Spirit of life frees us from the guilt of our sins. This Spirit dwells within us now, enabling us to walk in God’s way.

Gospel                                                 St. Matthew 13:1-9,18-23

Jesus tells the parable of the sower to a crowd of people and explains its meaning to his disciples.

Grant, O Lord, we beseech you,

that the course of this world may be so peaceably ordered

by your governance,

that your Church may joyfully serve you in all godly quietness;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
