           “Weekly News” for

             June 18th 2017– TRINITY 1 (Proper 6)

                                       A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.

 Introduction to worship

God calls us to him to be healed and sends us out to heal others. As the Lord carries us in our distress, so we learn from him how to carry each other.

O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy:  Increase and multiply upon us your mercy;

that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal

that we lose not our hold on things eternal;

grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake,

who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.  Amen

READINGS  (Proper 6 – Page 233/4 of Lectionary)

Old Testament Reading                             Exodus 19:2-8a

As they journey through the wilderness, God promises that if the Israelites obey him he will make them his most treasured possession. They promise, wholeheartedly, to do all that God says.

New Testament Reading                              Romans 5:1-8

The knowledge that Christ died for us while we were still helpless sinners should lead us to trust him in all things.

Gospel                                                                  St. Mathew 9: 35 – 10:8

Jesus gives his disciples the power to cast out evil spirits, to heal the sick freely amongst their own community, while spreading the Good News.

Eternal God, comfort of the afflicted and healer of the broken,

you have fed us at the table of life and hope:

Teach us the ways of gentleness and peace,

that all the world may acknowledge

the kingdom of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
