 “Weekly News” for

                   THE UNITED BENEFICE OF PADSTOW,

MERRYN and ST. ISSEY with ST. PETROC MINOR

 June 25th 2017– TRINITY 2 (Proper 7)

A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.

 Introduction to worship

Lord, you have taught us that all our doings without love are nothing worth:

Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtues,

without which whoever lives is counted dead before you.

Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ’s sake,

who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever. Amen.

READINGS (Proper 7 – Page 239/241)

First Reading                                                                     Jeremiah 20:7-13

Those who are denounced and rejected by people are supported, strengthened and loved by God and used by God in his plan for the world.

Second Reading                                                                Romans 6:1b-11

God’s great generosity to us is not evoked by sin, but is an expression of his love for us. Christ’s death has freed us from sin so that we might enjoy a new kind of life.

Gospel                                                                                 St. Matthew 10:24-39

Jesus warns that his followers will be denounced and rejected, so he reminds them not to fear people who can only hurt the body but to fear the insidious nature of evil which can hurt the soul.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER

Loving Father, we thank you for feeding us at the supper of your Son:

Sustain us with your Spirit, that we may serve you here on earth

until our joy is complete in heaven,

and we share in the eternal banquet with Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake,

                   THE UNITED BENEFICE OF PADSTOW,

MERRYN and ST. ISSEY with ST. PETROC MINOR

June 4th 2017– DAY OF PENTECOST

A warm welcome to visitors who join us today.

 Introduction to worship

God’s Spirit is among us, inspiring us and uniting us. As the Spirit transformed the first disciples into messengers of good news, we pray in this Eucharist that we too may be apostles of God’s love.

THE COLLECT

God, who as at this time taught the hearts of your faithful people

by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit:

grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgement in all things

and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort;

through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour,

who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

TODAY’S READINGS (PAGE 194/196)

First Reading                                                      1 Corinthians 12: 3b – 13

With the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the Spirit comes to us all giving us gifts of the Spirit.

Second Reading                                                Acts 2:1-21

The descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples inspired them to preach about the marvels of God in many different languages.

Gospel                                                                  St. John 20:19-23

The risen Christ appeared to the disciples filling them with joy. As the Father sent Christ, so he sends his disciples, giving the Holy Spirit to guide and sustain them.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER

Faithful God, who fulfilled the promises of Easter

by sending us your Holy Spirit and opening to every race and nation

the way of life eternal:

CHURCH ROOMS –  The Church car park over the next few weeks are going to be extremely busy with the scaffolding going up around the rooms, demolition equipment, lorries bringing materials, as well as the ongoing tower renovations.  PLEASE, PLEASE, only use the car park if you really need to, we don’t want to see any cars getting damaged.  If you are using the car park for mid-week services, please park away from the church rooms area.  Any problems get in touch with your Churchwardens.  Thank you for your patience.  Sue & Linda.

Revd. If you would like to attend there will be a sign up sheet in the back of St. Petroc’s Church or contact Alan Veck on 01841 521029 or Sue Norfolk Administrator on 01841 532902 who can give you more information on pick-up points and timings.
