OUR INTENTION TODAY
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Let us approach God’s throne and join in heaven’s rejoicing.
O Lord, we beseech you mercifully to hear the prayers of your people who call upon you; and grant that they may both perceive and know what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil them;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
READINGS FOR TODAY (Lectionary Page 1037/39)
First Reading Exodus 32.7-14
Moses persuades God to abandon his plan to destroy his people for their disobedience.
Second Reading 1 Timothy 1.12-17
No-one is too sinful to receive the love of Christ, and the calling to Christ’s service which follows.
Gospel St. Luke 15.1-10
In two parables, Jesus speaks of God’s determination not to lose a single one of his children.
you have taught us through your Son that love is the fulfilling of the law:
Grant that we may love you with our whole heart
and our neighbours as ourselves;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Psalm 51: 1-11 (Trevone)
1 Have mercy on me, O God, in your great goodness; ¨ according to the abundance of your compassion blot out my offences.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness ¨ and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my faults ¨ and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against you only have I sinned ¨ and done what is evil in your sight,
5 So that you are justified in your sentence ¨ and righteous in your judgement.
6 I have been wicked even from my birth, ¨ a sinner when my mother conceived me.
7 Behold, you desire truth deep within me ¨ and shall make me understand wisdom in the depths of my heart.
8 Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean; ¨ wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
9 Make me hear of joy and gladness, ¨ that the bones you have broken may rejoice.
10 Turn your face from my sins ¨ and blot out all my misdeeds.
11 Make me a clean heart, O God, ¨ and renew a right spirit within me.
“2016 QUILT EXHIBITION” – THANK YOU
What can we say? With approximately 500 visitors through our church doors during the quilt exhibition last week it was a huge success!
Meeting some lovely people throughout the week along with a car driving up through the church path from Church Lane, we certainly experienced some memorable moments!
Comments from visitors and locals were very complimentary, saying how amazing our exhibition was and what a wonderful church and community we have here in Padstow.
Our raffle quilt was won by a local lady who was absolutely thrilled to be on the receiving end of this gift!
We would like to say a big thank you to our girls and anyone who helped us in any way to make this fund raiser for our precious bell tower a huge success, raising a magnificent £2850.00.
Thanks to you all. Linda, Tilly and ‘The River Camel Quilters.’
