The Parish of Padstow
(St. Petroc’s, Padstow & St. Saviour’s, Trevone)
10th SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY-PROPER 13- Sunday 31st July

A warm welcome to visitors who join us today

INTRODUCTION
We are those who have been raised with Christ into eternal life. So let us seek “the things that are above, where Christ is,” as we gather to worship him.

THE COLLECT
Let your merciful ears, O Lord, be open to the prayers of your humble servants; and that they may obtain their petitions make them to ask such things as shall please you; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

THE READINGS (Page 1003/1005)
First Reading Ecclesiastes 1:2,12-14; 2:18-23
The writer laments the futility of all passing human activity that does not spring from a life rightly related to eternal God.

Second Reading Colossians 3:1-11
Paul challenges Colossian believers to put aside old ways and focus on cultivating a holiness appropriate to their new life in Christ.

Gospel St. Luke 12:13-21
Jesus warns against hoarding earthly riches at the expense of investing in the enduring treasure of a generous, God-centred lifestyle.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER
God of our pilgrimage, you have willed that the gate of mercy should stand open for those who trust in you: Look upon us with your favour that we who follow the path of your will may never wander from the way of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
