The Parish of Padstow
(St. Petroc’s, Padstow & St. Saviour’s, Trevone)

1st Sunday after Trinity – May 29th 2016
A warm welcome to visitors who join us today

INTRODUCTION
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Sinners as we are, we acknowledge that he came to offer his love, healing and forgiveness to all.

THE COLLECT
O God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you,
mercifully accept our prayers
and, because through the weakness of our mortal nature
we can do no good thing without you,
grant us the help of your grace,
that in keeping of your commandments
we may please you both in will and deed;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

READING (Proper 4 – Page 952/954)
First Reading 1 Kings 8: 22-23, 41-43
Solomon shows his love for God and gives thanks for God’s love for his people, Israel and that He is present in the temple.

Second Reading Galatians1: 1-12
Paul greets the people of Galatia and is anxious that they are deserting him. He teaches that the Gospel is not of human origin but is the Gospel of Christ.

Gospel Reading St. Luke 7: 1-10
The Centurion comes to Jesus to ask for help but acknowledges that he is not worthy of help. Jesus sees his faith and heals the centurion’s slave.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER
Eternal Father, we thank you for nourishing us with these heavenly gifts: May our communion strengthen us in faith, build us up in hope, and make us grow in love; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A warm welcome to visitors who join us today

Introduction and call to worship

We come together in this Eucharist to renew our vision of God – the God who promises the gift of his Holy Spirit to dwell within us, to revitalise and empower us, and to guide us to his own eternal presence.

THE COLLECT

God our redeemer, you have delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:  Grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life, so by his continual presence in us he may raise us to eternal joy; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

In a vision, Paul sees a man of Macedonia appealing to him “to come over and help us”.  He immediately responds, and thus begins to preach the Gospel in Europe.
