The Parish of Padstow
(St. Petroc’s, Padstow & St. Saviour’s, Trevone)
Third Sunday of Easter, 10thApril 2016

A warm welcome to visitors who join us today

Introduction
This morning, with other disciples, we meet Jesus on the shore of the lake. A new day dawns bringing with it new hope, assurance of the resurrection and a call to serve our Lord by tending his flock.

THE COLLECT
Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord: Give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness and truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

THE READINGS FOR TODAY (Page 902/904)
First Reading Acts 9:1-6
Saul sets off to Damascus to continue his persecution of the followers of Jesus. An encounter with the risen Lord himself convinces Saul that Jesus is, indeed, the Son of God calling him to a new life in his service.

Second Reading Revelation 5:11-14
Christ is portrayed as a Lamb who has suffered a sacrificial death. He is entitled to receive worship with God because of the victory he has won through that death.

Gospel St. John 21:1-19
After cooking breakfast for the disciples by the lake, Jesus restores and commissions Simon Peter, who once denied knowing him, to feed his sheep.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER
Living God, your Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may see him in all his redeeming work; who is alive and reigns, now and for ever. Amen

STEWARDS FOR MAY DAY: May Day is fast approaching and we would appreciate any help to steward the church on Monday 2nd May for the May Day festivities. If you can spare any time on that day, there is a list at the back of the church to sign up. Sue & Linda.

SERVICE PATTERN FOR THE PARISH OF PADSTOW
It is with the help of clergy in the deanery, the cathedral staff and senior staff team that we have been able to offer Eucharists in all three Parishes from the time of Canon Julia’s illness and death through until Easter.

From the first week of April until the end of May we will continue to have Eucharists in both St. Petroc’s and St. Saviour’s every Sunday. The time for the services in St. Petroc’s is now permanently at 11.00 a.m. and will not revert to 10.45 a.m. as previously. Also there will be 8.00 a.m. Holy Communion on the first and third Sundays of the month only.

From June, when our Worship Leaders have completed their training, we will move to a pattern of 2 Eucharists and 2 non-Eucharistic services each month. This will release me to offer Eucharists in the parishes of St. Merryn and St. Issey with St. Petroc Minor on the Sundays I am not in Padstow. I offer my thanks to those who are training as Worship Leaders as they will allow us to keep to the tradition of a Service each Sunday in both our churches in the Parish of Padstow. Those in training are:

Andrea Curnow, Keith Fyleman, Jan Fisher, Fiona Giorla,
Sue Norfolk and Martin Saunders.

They complete their course by the middle of May so will begin their new ministries in the Parish from June. We wish them every success with the training and I hope and pray that our congregations will support them as they begin to lead worship in the Parish. A non-Eucharistic service for the commissioning of the new Worship Leaders will take place on Sunday June 5th at 11.00am at St. Petroc’s Church led by Archdeacon Bill.

It all sounds very complicated I know but once we get going with the new pattern of worship in June I’m sure we’ll all get used to it. Just hope I don’t keep going to the wrong church!!!

Bless you all for being so understanding and positive to what we are having to do in order for me to look after my two “new” parishes.
Fr. Chris.

GODSPELL – THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING
We have had the most amazing comments from so many people and I hope that
you are all duly proud of yourselves for the praise you have totally deserved.
Thanks to Andrea, Tom and Angela for all their hard work. Together they have enthused the performers and brought the show to fruition. The result was amazing, not only as a show, but also as outreach into the community of Padstow and beyond. £1,000 was raised for The Coracle Appeal.
Bless you all for giving your time to raise funds for the restoration of our Parish Church.
FR. CHRIS
