St. Petroc’s Padstow and St Saviour’s Trevone
MOTHERING SUNDAY – FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
“The Weekly News” – 6th March 2016
A warm welcome to visitors who join us today

INTRODUCTION AND CALL TO WORSHIP
On Mothering Sunday we give thanks to God for our own mothers and for his loving parenthood.

THE COLLECT
God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life
of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bind together and to heal; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

TODAY’S READINGS – (Page 830/833)

First Reading Exodus 2:1-10
God used three women’s gifts to save Moses: his mother’s faith, his sister’s intelligence and the compassion of Pharaoh’s daughter. He can use our
gifts, too.

Second Reading Colossians 3: 12-17
St. Paul tells of how we should be living the Christian life and be true disciples

Gospel St. Luke 2: 33-35
The news that Jesus brings salvation is greeted with amazement and opposition, then as now; even those who love him most can be torn.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER
Loving God, as a mother feeds her children at the breast you feed us in this sacrament with the food and drink of eternal life: help us who have tasted your goodness to grow in grace within the household of faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Would you like to serve on the PCC?
Elected members of the PCC serve for three years and then cannot be re-elected for one year so that it gives as many as possible the chance to serve on the PCC. This year Janet Dawe, Peter Crawford and Lilian Martyn (Padstow) and Jane Saunders (Trevone) all retire and we thank them for their devoted service to the PCC for the past three years. There has also been a vacancy for Trevone this year so we have 3 vacancies for Padstow and 2 for Trevone.
There are application forms at the back for both churches for you to complete if you would like your name to go forward for election at the Annual Meeting. Please hand your completed forms to either Fr. Chris of your churchwardens.
Thanks again to all who have served on the PCC this year.
Fr. Chris

PLEASE have an open mind about our new services as you will have your opportunity to say what you think. We will be looking for your feedback at the APCM on March 9th so we can choose the style of services YOU would like in the parish. The PCC will then make the final decision after the Annual Parochial Church Meeting and the decided pattern of services will be put in place in April.
Fr. Chris
