St. Petroc’s Padstow and St Saviour’s Trevone
SUNDAY BEFORE LENT
“The Weekly News” – February 7th 2016
A warm welcome to visitors who join us today
Introduction and call to worship
As Jesus prayed, the disciples saw his face shine with the glory of the Lord. In our worship today, may we see the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
whose Son was revealed in majesty before he suffered death upon the cross:
give us grace to perceive his glory,
that we may be strengthened to suffer with him
and be changed into his likeness, from glory to glory;
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
TODAY’S READINGS (Page 807/809)
First Reading Exodus 34:29-35
Interceding with God for his rebellious people, and receiving the covenant commandments, Moses’ face radiated God’s glory, which frightened the Israelites so he wore a veil.
Second Reading 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:2
The new covenant in Christ allows us unveiled access to God, whose Spirit enables us increasingly to reflect his glory as we turn to him in confidence.
Gospel St. Luke 9:28-36
Like Moses, Jesus radiates the glory of God, but he is the Son, outshining both Moses and Elijah, as the new covenant eclipses the Law and the Prophets.
O holy God,
we behold your glory in the face of Jesus Christ:
Grant that we who are partakers at his table
may reflect his life in word and deed,
that all the world may know his power to change and save;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
THE CHURCH ELECTORAL ROLL Under the Church Representation Rules between Sunday January 31st and Sunday February 14th we have our annual revision of the Electoral Roll. Please contact our Electoral Roll Officer, Mrs. Betty Tucker (532889) at Padstow (or Fr. Chris at Trevone who is happy to pass any information or questions to Betty for you). Please ask for a form to complete if you would like your name on the Roll. If your name is on the Roll you are a “member” of the Anglican Parish of Padstow. Being on the Roll entitles you to vote at the Annual Parochial Meeting on March 9th and serve of the P.C.C. if elected. This is also the time to check that your name is on the Roll or to ask for it to be removed if that is your wish. We have to have an accurate Roll for the Annual Meeting. Fr. Chris

PLEASE have an open mind about our new services as you will have your opportunity to say what you think. We will be looking for your feedback at the APCM on March 9th so we can choose the style of services YOU would like in the parish. The PCC will then make the final decision after the Annual Parochial Church Meeting and the decided pattern of services will be put in place in April.
