THE THIRD SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY – JANUARY 24th 2016
The Parish Of Padstow
(St. Petroc’s Padstow & St. Saviour’s Trevone)
A warm welcome to visitors with us today
OUR INTENTION OF THE DAY
Today we hear how Jesus shows his followers that the words of the Prophets will be fulfilled – he is the Good News of freedom and salvation.
THE COLLECT FOR THE THIRD SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY
whose Son revealed in signs and miracles
the wonder of your saving presence:
renew your people with your heavenly grace,
and in all our weakness sustain us by your mighty power;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
THE READINGS (Page 780/782)
First Reading (Trevone only) Nehemiah 8:1-3, 5-6, 8-10
Ezra reads from the book of the Law of Moses. He encourages the people to be confident and filled with joy.
Second Reading (Padstow only) 1 Corinthians 12:12-31a
Paul writes about the nature of the Body of Christ. Through Baptism we are all made parts of that body.
Gospel St. Luke 4:14-21
Jesus begins his public ministry, reading and teaching in the synagogue. He proclaims that the word of God on the scroll of the prophet Isaiah is being fulfilled that very day.
POST COMMUNION PRAYER
Almighty Father, whose Son our Saviour Jesus Christ is the light of the world:
may your people, illumined by your word and sacraments,
shine with the radiance of his glory, that he may be known,
worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth;
for he is alive and reigns, now and for ever.
THE CHURCH ELECTORAL ROLL
Under the Church Representation Rules between Sunday January 31st and Sunday February 14th we have our annual revision of the Electoral Roll.
Please contact our Electoral Roll Officer, Mrs. Betty Tucker (532889) at Padstow (or Fr. Chris at Trevone who is happy to pass any information or questions to Betty for you). Please ask for a form to complete if you would like your name on the Roll. If your name is on the Roll you are a “member” of the Anglican Parish of Padstow. Being on the Roll entitles you to vote at the Annual Parochial Meeting on March 9th and serve of the P.C.C. if elected. This is also the time to check that your name is on the Roll or to ask for it to be removed if that is your wish. We have to have an accurate Roll for the Annual Meeting. Fr. Chris

PLEASE have an open mind about our new services as you will have your opportunity to say what you think. We will be looking for your feedback at the APCM on March 9th so we can choose the style of services YOU would like in the parish. The PCC will then make the final decision after the Annual Parochial Church Meeting and the decided pattern of services will be put in place in April.
“HOLY DUSTERS” next meet on Saturday, February 6th at 9.00 a.m. to give St. Petroc’s a good clean through. We’re all done by 10.30 a.m. Please help if you are free. Thanks. Sue and Linda
