THE SECOND SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY
“The Weekly News” – JANUARY 17th 2016
The Parish Of Padstow (St. Petroc’s Padstow & St. Saviour’s Trevone)
A warm welcome to visitors with us today
OUR INTENTION OF THE DAY
Jesus receives the poverty of our resources and generously pours into us his riches of abundant new life. So let us open our hearts to God’s goodness.
THE COLLECT FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY
Almighty God, in Christ you make all things new:
transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace,
and in the renewal of our lives make known your heavenly glory;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
THE READINGS (Page 778/779)
First Reading Isaiah 62:1-5
The prophet proclaims that the Lord’s glory will be revealed for all to see through the salvation and restoration of his people.
Second Reading (Trevone only) 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
Through his Spirit, God sovereignly blesses believers with a rich diversity of spiritual gifts for the building up of the Christian community.
Gospel St. John 2:1-11
As Jesus changes water into wine at a wedding, his disciples respond to this miraculous sign of the Saviour’s glory by putting their faith in him.
POST COMMUNION PRAYER
God of glory, you nourish us with your Word
who is the bread of life:
fill us with your Holy Spirit
that through us the light of your glory
may shine in all the world.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
THE CHURCH ELECTORAL ROLL
Under the Church Representation Rules between Sunday January 31st and Sunday February 14th we have our annual revision of the Electoral Roll. Please contact our Electoral Roll Officer, Mrs. Betty Tucker (532889) at Padstow (or Fr. Chris at Trevone who is happy to pass any information or questions to Betty for you). Please ask for a form to complete if you would like your name on the Roll. If your name is on the Roll you are a “member” of the Anglican Parish of Padstow. Being on the Roll entitles you to vote at the Annual Parochial Meeting on March 9th and serve of the P.C.C. if elected. This is also the time to check that your name is on the Roll or to ask for it to be removed if that is your wish. We have to have an accurate Roll for the Annual Meeting. Fr. Chris

PLEASE have an open mind about our new services as you will have your opportunity to say what you think. We will be looking for your feedback at the APCM on March 9th so we can choose the style of services YOU would like in the parish. The PCC will then make the final decision after the Annual Parochial Church Meeting and the decided pattern of services will be put in place in April.
